Overview

Master Halco, the largest manufacturer/distributor of fencing products, has an immediate opportunity for an Accounts Payable Manager. The Accounts Payable Manager will be responsible for all aspects of the company’s accounts payable function, including the management of the AP Administration staff. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Establishes accounts payable procedures to ensure that vendor payments are in compliance with the company's disbursement policies, IRS reporting regulations, JSox and generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Ensures the integrity of accounts payable system files and the accounts payable integrations to the general ledger.
  • Participates in design and analysis of finance related systems to ensure compatibility with accounts payable requirements. Coordinates with other Accounting staff and department's personnel to determine, develop and implement manual and automated disbursement procedures and processing methods needed to meet current and anticipated requirements.
  • Coordinates and schedules accounts payable processing/accounting events required for weekly payment processing, monthly and annual closings. Prepares numerous month-end entries to the general ledger.
  • Assists the company’s auditors, internal and external, and prepares all necessary schedules, analyses and/or work papers. Reconciles and prepares monthly analysis of multiple General Ledger accounts and various A/P sub-Systems.
  • Maintains check signature authorization and follows through for proper documentation.
  • Supervises accounts payable staff, which includes the duties of interviewing, hiring, assigning and monitoring work, counseling, training and performance management.
  • Assists with special projects in support of company’s financial systems and general accounting functions as required.
  • Regular attendance required in accordance with the monthly close calendar.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, or related field preferred or equivalent experience
  • Seven or more years of Accounts Payable experience
  • 3 or more years of leadership/Management experience
  • Experience working with generally accepted accounting principles and accounting software
  • Must have large ERP AP system experience, JDE or Infor preferred
  • Strong personal computer and business solutions software skills
  • AP Automation experience preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills for interacting accountants, clients, and upper management
  • Good communication skills for communicating with support personnel and management
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Good presentation skills for educating internal clients on accounting principles
  • Good planning and organizational skills to balance and prioritize work
  • Knowledge of professional manager techniques, which includes the ability to train and coach subordinates and delegate tasks, assignments, projects and reports as necessary
