Our corporate primary fabrication shop in Dallas, TX designs, manufactures and provides technical support for custom and engineered gate and fence systems required throughout our company and industry. We have an opening at this location for a high energy Production Manager to oversee the operation, develop world class skills and methods, motivate and interface effectively with all levels of the management team and workforce.  Knowledge of lean manufacturing methods and continuous improvement are essential to success. 


Operations Management

  • Supervise and coordinate all activities of support staff and workforce in very high-speed and dynamic operation. Plan, assign and direct work in an efficient manner.  Communicate, motivate and incentivize workforce to operate efficiently and productively. 
  • Verify production, cost targets and design parameters meet specifications, drawings, procedures, quality, schedule, and budget.
  • Coordinate and communicate fab shop schedule with Sales and Project Managers. Monitor and adapt to optimize service levels and address operational constraints (staffing, material, etc.).
  • Monitor backlog and coordinate gate shop schedules with other company FAB shops to level the workload as required. Maintain project file archive.
  • Provide sales support, quotations, submittal drawings and technical support.
  • Develop and document gate inspection methods. Create and deploy Inspection Record Sheets.
  • Streamline Inventory and Production Control processes as related primarily to production operations.
  • Support proprietary & custom gate quotations and submittal documentation.
  • Administer time and attendance program.
  • Perform other duties as required by Management.



  • Develop and maintain metrics to establish common processes & goals in gate shops while communicating status and progress to management team (gates built per period, lead time, profitability, cost of quality, etc.).
  • Coordinate with Purchasing, Engineering, Safety and Branch management teams.
  • Facilitate tooling and equipment use / purchases for efficient operations. Recommend and justify capital needs and requirements. 
  • Audit costs vs margins. Provide feedback on quotation accuracy, materials procurement and fabrication time.
  • Oversee and improve facilities and preventative maintenance program.


Lean methods

  • Facilitate Lean Manufacturing methods in operations (such as continuous improvement processes, set up reduction, single piece flow, inventory reduction, Kanban & Poka-yoke systems, waste elimination, employee development, 5S housekeeping practices, etc.).
  • Develop weld sample boards, mockups and deploy to shops.
  • Facilitate employee development programs essential to world class performance (team building, fabricating and machining, blueprint reading, custom, proprietary and engineered gate standards etc.).
  • Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Periodic travel in support of our customers and branches may be required.


Coordination with Engineering

  • Review drawings and specifications to assure compliance with design, safety and testing requirements. Interpret specifications, blueprints, sketches and work orders to employees.
  • Feedback to Engineering to improve proprietary and engineered gate drawings (accuracy, clarity, proper weld symbols, etc.).
  • Develop Quality Control programs and inspection practices for proprietary/custom gates and gate hardware as needed (in coordination with Engineering and Purchasing).
  • Identify and resolve product deficiencies with Vendors (in conjunction with Purchasing and Engineering).
  • Audit product quality (manufactured and purchased items). Document and establish corrective actions as required.
  • Develop & implement maintenance guidelines specific to fabrication operations.
  • Maintain and improve custom gate serialization and record keeping.


  • Minimum of 5 years plant management in fencing or similar industry with fabrication and structural design knowledge,
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Business-related program (or commensurate experience).
  • Mechanical aptitude with ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
  • Familiarity of AWS Welding Codes and welding blueprint terminology and symbols.
  • Very desirable to have prior experience managing/working with typical machine-shop equipment (cut-off, plasm/waterjet/laser cutting, mills, engine lathes, drills, routers, saws, overhead cranes, etc.). CNC knowledge a plus.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with managers, customers, vendors and employees regarding sales, engineering design, materials, and logistical support.
  • Proficient in ERP/MRP system use. Working ability in all MS Office products.  AutoCAD & Inventor a plus. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Additional fluency in Spanish preferred.
  • Position requires routine plant floor activity in a non-climate-controlled environment.
