Overview

Itochu Building Products (IBP) Holdings has an immediate need for a Human Resources (HR) Generalist to work at our corporate office.

IBP is comprised of Master Halco, Alta Forest Products, and US Premier Tube Mills making IBP the largest and leading manufacturer and wholesale distributor of fencing products in North America.

 

Position Summary:

The Human Resources Generalist, Workers’ Compensation Focus is responsible for providing comprehensive HR support with a specialized focus on workers’ compensation, workplace incident reporting, and OSHA compliance. This role serves as the first point of contact for managers when employee injuries or workplace incidents occur and plays a critical role in ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant reporting and case management. In addition to injury and claim-related responsibilities, the HR Generalist supports core HR functions, including new hire onboarding, policy administration, compliance, leave of absence tracking, and general HR processes coordination.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

 

Workers Compensation & Safety Support

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all employee work-related injuries and incidents, partnering with managers to ensure timely and accurate reporting
  • Complete and file all workers’ compensation claims and supporting documentation with internal and external stakeholders (e.g., third-party administrators, insurers)
  • Maintain OSHA logs and ensure compliance with federal and state reporting requirements
  • Track and monitor all open claims and coordinate communication between employees, healthcare providers, and claims administrators
  • Provide guidance to managers and employees on return-to-work and modified duty options
  • Identify trends and work with Safety and Operations teams to recommend proactive safety improvements

 

General HR Support

  • Facilitate new hire onboarding processes, including document collection, orientation coordination, and system setup
  • Maintain and update employee records, ensuring data accuracy and compliance within the HRIS
  • Provide day-to-day guidance to employees and managers on HR policies, procedures, and general inquiries
  • Assist with leave of absence tracking and documentation, including FMLA, ADA, and state-specific leave laws
  • Support routine HR processes such as employment verifications, compliance audits, and reporting
  • Participate in HR projects related to policy updates, process improvement, and internal communications

 

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in Human Resources Generalist role, with at least 1-2 years of direct experience handling workers’ compensation claims and OSHA reporting
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
  • Knowledge of federal and state employment laws, especially as they relate to workplace safety and employee health
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with HRIS systems
  • Proficiency in Injury Tracking Application for OSHA

Work Environment: Office Environment and/or Remote

Physical Demands: This job requires the ability to sit, stand, lift and/or move.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: Hybrid Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday in office, Wednesday, Friday remote

Travel: 15%
