The Distribution Center Manager leads the strategic planning, managing staff and daily operations of shipping and receiving to include safety, security, quality, reliability, compliance, and customer-service standards.

Responsibilities

• Complete Profit & Loss responsibility while maximizing distribution efficiency with neutral profitability and properly manage company assets
• Develop or implement plans for facility modification or expansion, such as equipment purchase or changes in space allocation or structural design

• Plan, develop, or implement warehouse safety and security programs and activities
• Oversee and manage the Dallas Fab Shop Production Manager and related branch financials
• Establishes operational procedures for verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling, and disposition of merchandise, and keeping of warehouse inventory
• Develop and document standard and emergency operating procedures for receiving, handling, storing, shipping, or salvaging products or materials
• Work with select HQ departments to identify and improve inventory turns and distribution processes
• Issue shipping instructions and provide routing information to ensure that delivery times and locations are coordinated
• Respond to customers' or shippers' questions regarding storage and distribution services
• Develop or implement plans for storage and distribution activities
• Maintain a high level of quality control at all levels within the Distribution Center
• Maintain positive customer and vendor relations
• Keep the Company informed of market and competitive conditions
• Develop effective interdepartmental communications and working relationships within Master-Halco
• Coordinates activities of distribution warehouse with activities of sales, record control, and purchasing departments to ensure availability of merchandise
• Interview, select, and train warehouse and supervisory personnel
• Review invoices, manufacturing orders, consumption reports, or demand forecasts to estimate peak delivery periods and to issue work assignments
• Prepare or direct preparation of correspondence, reports, and operations, maintenance, and safety manuals
• Inspect physical conditions of warehouses, vehicle fleets, or equipment and order testing, maintenance, repairs, or replacements
• Other tasks and duties as determined by supervisor or self to support the company’s goals and direction

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Work Equivalent
  • 2 plus years' of experience in related field
  • Strong knowledge of DC operations and processes
  • Experience working with fence or building products a strong plus
  • Experience leading operations yard and warehouse, equipment, and inventory of materials
  • Full Profit & Loss responsibility experience required
  • Inventory control and purchasing experience
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task and navigate within a fast paced, rapidly changing business environment
  • Working knowledge and experience with internet; inventory system, Microsoft EXCEL, Word, and Outlook
