Overview

Master Halco: Fence & Deck Supply, North America’s leading manufacturer/distributor of fence and deck products is seeking an experienced Safety Specialist.

 

Position Summary

The Safety Specialist supports and strengthens Master‑Halco’s culture of safety excellence by promoting proactive hazard awareness, continuous improvement, and consistent alignment with OSHA 1910 General Industry and other regulatory standards across multiple sites. Reporting to the Safety Manager, this role enhances safety performance by delivering safety training through the company’s TMS and in-person sessions, conducts inspections and audits, assists with incident investigations, and supports regulatory compliance. Serving as a key bridge between field operations and safety management, this position also supports site-specific safety plans, interprets internal and customer safety requirements, maintains accurate safety documentation, and collaborates closely with operations teams to resolve safety concerns and reinforces a safe, healthy, and incident-free work environment.

Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Serve as a subject matter resource to supervisors, associates, and leadership teams
  • Model safe behaviors and reinforce company safety expectations
  • Champion a proactive safety culture emphasizing hazard recognition, mitigation, and continuous improvement
  • Coach leaders and frontline teams on safety expectations, accountability, and safe work practices
  • Facilitate safety committees and site safety champions; share best practices across locations

Operational Accountabilities

  • Maintain and reinforce the Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP)
  • Design, deliver, and track safety training programs
  • Conduct onsite safety audits, inspections, and assessments across assigned sites
  • Support development, assignment, and tracking of training modules within the Training Management System (TMS)
  • Validate training effectiveness through knowledge checks, skills assessments, and field observations
  • Participate in incident investigations and assist with root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Support site leaders during safety committee meetings, safety initiatives, and improvement projects

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications

  • Exceptional leadership in safety, teambuilding, and relationship building skills
  • Strong command of OSHA 29 CFR 1910
  • Familiarity with ANSI, NFPA, DOT/FMCSA, EPA and state standards relevant to general industry operations.
  • Proficiency with EHS management systems, Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word PowerPoint, Teams), and digital audit/training tools.
  • Exceptional organizational, time management, multi-tasking, and administrative skills
  • Driven and results oriented
  • Ability to work with all levels of personnel within the organization

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health or related field preferred
  • Certifications preferred: CSP, ASP, SMS, or OHST, and ability to obtain additional credentials as needed.
  • 3 plus years of progressive safety experience in general industry environments (distribution, manufacturing, logistics, or similar multi-site operations).
  • Demonstrated success leading training, policy/program management, and site inspections/audits.
  • Hands-on experience with incident investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action management.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred

Physical Demands

This job requires the ability to sit, climb, stand, lift and/or move. Must be able to travel to fulfill duties.
